You’ve finally completed your manuscript! That’s exciting in and of itself. But on top of that, you’ve had a few people read it, and they love it!
Now, you’re absolutely thrilled. But, you don’t know what the next step is.
It can be so confusing with all those articles out there telling you what you should, and shouldn’t, be doing now that you finished your manuscript.
The good news is, you have a lot of options! You can submit to agents who, if they accept you and your manuscript, will send it to the big publishing houses. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll accept your work, though. That sting of rejection hurts, and it doesn’t get better with time.
But another option you have is to send it to a small publisher, like us, or publish it on your own as an indie author.
None of these options are wrong! That’s the wonderful thing. It’s all about you, and your goals.
What we focus on is the author!
We offer three different publishing platforms for you to choose from.
First, we have our traditional publishing package. Here, authors submit their manuscripts just like they would any other publisher. We go through each one with careful consideration and determine if it is a fit for our brand. While we wish we could accept everyone, that just isn’t feasible.
But for those who want more flexibility and control over their publishing projects, we offer co-publishing packages. Here, the author and The Red Pen of Doom both invest in the publishing of the manuscript. These books are submitted the same way as traditional publishing books, where we will review each submission and determine if it is a match for us.
*This is not to be confused with vanity publishing. A vanity press will charge a large sum of money to produce your book, and often requires authors to purchase a certain number of books, on top of the fees they’ve already paid to the ‘publisher’. The Red Pen of Doom does not accept nor charge any fees for either our traditional or co-publishing packages. For authors who choose to pursue the avenue of co-publishing, the only fees they will incur is for services rendered, at a discounted price from non-publishing clients. For services that the author is contractually obligated to pay for (which could vary from author to author, depending on the package chosen), they may choose to either accept discounted services from The Red Pen of Doom or seek their own service providers.*
Finally, we have services for the authors who prefer to self-publish and be in complete control of their publishing journey. We offer a la carte services to assist authors in preparing their manuscripts for publishing, or publishing packages.
